Latest statement from Joan Lascorz's team
Rider Joan Lascorz is now in Barcelona, at the Vall d'Hebron Hospital, where he arrived yesterday from Bologna.
Yesterday rider Joan Lascorz arrived at the Vall d’Hebron Hospital in Barcelona following his accident last Monday at the Imola Circuit, during the World Superbike test at the Italian track. The Catalan rider suffered a serious crash that took him to the Maggiore Hospital in Bologna, and he was transferred yesterday to the Catalan capital.
In the latest statement from the Kawasaki team received last night, it is reported that the rider was diagnosed at the Bologna Hospital with a C6 cervical fracture-dislocation. He underwent emergency surgery and was fitted with a three-level cervical fixation. Following that operation, Joan’s progress was positive, so it was decided to transfer the rider to Barcelona by medical transport, to Vall d’Hebron, where he is now admitted to the Intensive Care and Spinal Cord Injury Unit.
Following his arrival at around 4 p.m. at the hospital, the medical protocol for this type of patient was quickly initiated. Our Joan remains sedated on mechanical ventilation, and it is not yet possible to know the extent of his neurological injuries until he wakes up from sedation.
We expect that, after this team statement, we will have more information within about 48 hours, although there may not be much news regarding his current condition.
On behalf of PlusMoto.com, we send all our strength to Joan Lascorz, big 17.
