The Kymco brand has announced the new Super Dink 350 model for late March 2020. It is the safest scooter in the range, as it has been designed to give the rider full control of the vehicle while riding and in any extraordinary situation that may arise during acceleration or braking.

This model joins the iconic Super Dink family, a benchmark in the Spanish market, whose 125 cc version has accumulated record sales of 35,500 units over more than 10 years on the road in Spain. The main novelty of the new Super Dink 350 is its intelligent Traction Control System (TCS), which comes as standard. Its mechanism is designed to achieve maximum grip on the motorcycle’s rear wheel when riding over slippery surfaces or in any adverse situation that may arise during acceleration. The TCS works in conjunction with the ABS, also standard (Bosch 9.1 M, the smallest and lightest), and is the result of software development by the brand in collaboration with Bosch and Continental.

The wheel speed sensors, which send information to the ABS control unit, have now been programmed to also report a significant difference in rotational speed between the two wheels. When this occurs, Traction Control is activated. The engine’s electronic control unit, or ECU, receives the information from the sensors via the ABS and orders an advance of the ignition map to reduce power and force maximum traction at the rear wheel.

This mechanism is activated when the difference in rotational speed of the rear wheel exceeds 5 km/h (equivalent to linear speed) relative to the rotational speed of the front wheel. When both wheels return to similar rotational speeds (provided the rear wheel’s rotational speed is within 5 km/h of the front wheel), the engine returns to its normal ignition map. The TCS mechanism can be switched on or off from the handlebar.

The new Super Dink 350 represents a new benchmark in the KYMCO range when it comes to safety. The wheel speed sensors detect not only when an emergency braking event occurs (ABS), but also when a significant difference in rotational speed between both wheels arises (TCS), with the aim of maintaining the stability of the motorcycle and total control of the vehicle.

Super Dink 350 is equipped with a high-performance 28.8 hp (21.2 kW) engine at 7,500 r.p.m. (Euro 4), 4-stroke, 4-valve, liquid-cooled. It is a comfortable vehicle with large storage capacity under the seat (room for two full-face helmets) and ample glove compartments; a two-height seat with fabrics that provide flexibility at the sides, non-slip footrests, a 12.5-litre fuel tank for a range of 328 kilometres, and more.

The new Super Dink version with TCS will replace the current model (1,093 registrations in 2019, placing it in the Top 10 best-selling maxi-scooters) and will be available in Spain in late March in three colours: red, white and grey. Its Recommended Retail Price is €5,199.00, a highly competitive price, as it includes one year of compulsory insurance with theft cover as standard.
