Jorge Lorenzo comes from behind and wins at Silverstone MotoGP
Today a superb race from Jorge Lorenzo at the Silverstone Circuit, his fourth win of the season, with Stoner 2nd and Pedrosa 3rd, and a Bauti 4th who achieved a great result.
Today we witnessed a superb MotoGP World Championship race at the Silverstone Circuit. From the start to the finish it was thrilling, with three Spanish riders as the main protagonists, making this sixth round of the season at the British track one of the most interesting.
The start was very good for Ben Spies, closely followed by Casey Stoner, while Álvaro Bautista held third place. Today was a bad day for Dani Pedrosa at the beginning of the race, and Jorge Lorenzo took things calmly, not wanting to push on a tricky track with cold tyres, so very smart of the 99.
After that excellent start by Spies, Stoner moved into 2nd and pressed hard to pass him, while behind a group formed with many riders fighting among themselves: Bautista, Lorenzo, Pedrosa, Dovizioso and Hayden, with a lot of battling, overtakes and re-overtakes. This allowed Spies and Stoner to break away on their own and fight, with the current world champion quickly passing Spies for the lead on lap 11, which prompted the 99 to get going, since he clearly knew that if Stoner took the lead he would pull away alone.
At that moment we saw the start of another galaxy for Lorenzo. He began to push with great calm, passing riders and taking the lead of that group, catching up with Spies and bringing with him Bautista, Dovizioso and Pedrosa. At that point Jorge passed his teammate, to begin the comeback on Stoner, reaching the leader, while behind Bauti, Pedrosa, Spies and Dovi were left behind. The Italian had very bad luck, crashing while fighting for the podium, so a bad day for the 4, who was putting in a superb race.
While Bautista and Pedrosa were left alone after passing a deflated Spies, ahead came three heart-stopping corners, incredible and thrilling, beyond description, between Stoner and Lorenzo, with overtakes and re-overtakes in impossible spaces. Today’s battle between the two will be one to remember. When Lorenzo passed Stoner, the Australian returned the move on the inside, but the 99 went around the outside, and so on until the world champion saw Jorge closing every door on him and opening the throttle.
With those overtakes Stoner lost Lorenzo’s wheel, and the Yamaha rider pulled away alone from the ninth lap onwards. He had a rather serious scare, but he knew how to keep his cool and secure his fourth win of the MotoGP season, now leading the overall standings, with a Stoner worried about his rear tyre and a Pedrosa somewhat disappointed at not being able to keep up his pace. And what can we say about our Álvaro? Excellent. He lacks that “little bit” as he says himself, but he fought with the leading group and was in podium positions, a great result.
We must also highlight the position of Cal Crutchlow in 6th. The Briton started from the back of the grid after missing the official practice sessions , but the crowd, his track and his fans made him fly, passing Hayden late in the race and taking 6th place. Of course, we must also mention that the best CRT has once again been our Aleix Espargaró. The 41 gave his teammate De Puniet a real thrashing and remains the best CRT in the MotoGP World Championship.
The remaining positions for the Spanish riders were 10th for Héctor Barberá, 11th for Aleix Espargaró and 18th for Iván Silva.
A superb race today at Silverstone.

Saludos
