Jorge Lorenzo bounces back at Misano MotoGP and Pedrosa 2nd
The rider Jorge Lorenzo has scored a very important victory in MotoGP at the Misano circuit. The Yamaha rider fought from the start and, thanks to a very good getaway, managed to take the lead and push flat out with a Stoner very close behind in the first laps.
The MotoGP World Champion has shown he won’t give up, although it has not been easy for him, since Casey Stoner got off to a fast start and positioned himself right behind the Mallorcan, never passing him but showing his wheel and applying pressure.
Halfway through the race Stoner faded, and Lorenzo went off on his own, building a good gap over the championship leader, while a little further back Dani Pedrosa was positioned. At the start he was running alongside the front runners, but later he lost some pace, although in the end he recovered.
While Lorenzo was leading with more than six seconds of advantage, Stoner was falling back behind, and Pedrosa took advantage of this situation to deliver a spectacular blow to his teammate. The truth is that the 26 held nothing back and overtook Stoner at the big curve (fast section).
So Lorenzo controlled and dominated the race, while Pedrosa consolidated second place and Stoner was not very aggressive and settled for third, losing few points in the championship compared to Lorenzo.
Behind them we saw an intense battle between the Italians Dovizioso, Simoncelli and Rossi, but then Spies joined in and the 46 lost some ground, so the final fight for fourth place went to SIC, DOV and Spi, with the 58 taking the spoils as he was very strong in the final part of the race at Misano.
Rossi had a surprising start, a very good one, with the front runners, but little by little he dropped back, unable to keep up with the pace of the official Yamaha bikes, and Honda, but it seems Ducati has progressed a little.
Álvaro Bautista in eighth and Héctor Barberá in ninth also had a fairly positive day. On one side, the rider from Suzuki had a disastrous start, losing many positions, but then got down to work to recover ground and managed it, though he could not get any higher. For his part, Barberá became the second Ducati on track, and also rode at the same times as Rossi, so not bad for the 8, who also had a busy time on track and overtook several rivals.
Closing out the remaining positions were Cal Crutchlow in tenth, Hiroshi Aoyama in eleventh, Karel Abraham in twelfth, Colin Edwards in thirteenth, Randy De Puniet in fourteenth and Toni Elías in fifteenth and last.
An interesting race at Misano, with a Lorenzo in 100% mode, a Pedrosa who is starting to produce great second halves of races despite not having got off to a good start, and of course a conservative and apparently tired Stoner.
Results LOR, PED, STO, SIC, DOV, SPI, ROS, BAU, BAR, CRU, AOY, ABR, EDW, RDP, ELI.
Now Stoner is 35 points behind Lorenzo in the championship, so things are getting closer, but the Australian is very consistent and it will be difficult.
The next race is in Aragón, so everyone to the Motorland track.
