Jonathan Rea scores SBK double in Jerez
Rider Jonathan Rea has won the second race of the Superbike weekend in Jerez.

The World Superbike Championship has held its second race at the Jerez Circuit in what is its penultimate round of the 2017 season, in a very eventful meeting from the start and in which we saw maximum action from all the participants.
The start was very good for the Yamahas, Van der Mark and Lowes, both of whom got away very strongly, followed by a Rea who was gaining positions, while Chaz Davies had his ups and downs with Eugene Laverty, who caused the Ducati rider to crash on the first lap of the race. Davies was able to rejoin the track, but at the back of the standings, and just as the leaders were passing the finish straight, we saw Race Direction bring out the red flag due to the track conditions after the fall of rider Schmitter.
Therefore, the restart of the second race of this penultimate round of the season at the Andalusian track. Once again the Yamahas went all out, with Van der Mark at the front, followed by Lowes, with the Kawasakis quite close and Davies also in the leading group.
The race was very exciting, with Rea in the lead who wasted no time in pushing with everything to break away, while the excitement centred on the battle between Lowes, Melandri and Davies. With 15 laps to go we saw Davies moving into second place after overtaking Van der Mark, and he tried to give everything to get within reach of Rea’s rear wheel.
With two laps to go we saw Melandri overtake Davies after the finish straight, while Rea continued in the lead without a rival. Finally victory for Jonathan Rea, followed by Melandri and Davies, while the top 10 was completed by Lowes 4th, Sykes 5th, VD Mark 6th, Forés 7th, Guintoli 8th, Mercado 9th and 10th Torres, with Ramos 11th.
A superb race for Rea.
