Joan Mir wins race 2 of the Rookies Cup at Brno

Rider Joan Mir has taken victory in the second race of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup at the Brno circuit, making it a Spanish double at the Czech track in the promotional cup. On Saturday it was Jorge Martín, and on this occasion, in the second race, we saw young rider Joan Mir take the win at the Czech track.

Mir came out on top of Fabio Di Giannantonio and Stefano Manzi in a battle between eight riders, in which we saw it all, but in which Mir knew how to make the most of every moment and situation to secure the win. Fabio Di Giannantonio, meanwhile, earned his first Rookies Cup podium by finishing second ahead of his compatriot Stefano Manzi.

For his part, Martín crashed at the start of the final lap, after making contact with rider Bo Bendsneyder while running in the lead group. That was a shame for him, as he could have scored a good number of points for the overall standings.

In short, victory for Mir, followed by Di Giannantonio in 2nd and Manzi in 3rd on the podium; the top 10 was completed by Ray in 4th, García 5th, Boulom 6th, Michail 7th, Masia 8th, Razgatlioglu 9th and Gutiérrez 10th. With this result, Martín leads the overall standings with 155 points, followed by Mir 30 points behind.

The next two races will take place at Silverstone on 30 and 31 August.
