Jorge Martín wins Race 1 of the Rookies Cup at Brno

Rider Jorge Martín took victory in the first race of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup at the Brno Circuit. The leader of the promotional cup achieved this win after the summer break, giving the Madrid native yet another triumph.

With this victory he now has three on his tally, although on this occasion it came in unusual conditions. The race was run on rain tyres on a dry track, meaning conditions were at the limit for everyone, since those tyres do not last long on a dry circuit.

Martín did not have an easy start to the race, as the getaway was very poor, but step by step he managed to recover and catch up with the leading trio of Pagliani, Manzi and Ray. The young rider also built a significant advantage on the final lap, leaving his rivals behind, while the other three riders fought for second and third place on the podium, with Pagliani finishing 2nd and Manzi 3rd.

The top 10 was completed by Ray in 4th, Mir 5th, García 6th, Mihara 7th, Di Giannantonio 8th, Simpson 9th and Boulom 10th. The rest of our riders finished Masia 11th and Gutiérrez 14th.

After it rained before the start of the race, which had been reduced to nine laps, the young riders took on the race on rain tyres in the face of the threat of further rain. The wet areas of the track dried quickly, even before the 24 riders were sent off. Therefore, maximum tension on every lap and corner at the Czech circuit.

The second race at this Brno track will be held today.
