Rider Gabriel Rodrigo takes pole position for the Moto3 World Championship at the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit

The Moto3 World Championship was the first to take to the track at the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit to battle for pole position on the Catalan track, in a special session, as spectators were allowed in the stands for the first time since the pandemic.
The first to head out were the riders who had not managed to place themselves among the best combined times, having to go through Q1 to secure one of the four spots that give access to Q2, with Mcphee, Artigas, Masia and Rossi the best of them.
And then came the moment of truth, Q2, where we saw Izán Guevara be the first to set valid times and take the top spot, so expectation was at its peak, but the riders held back for the end of the official practice session.
The final part of the session saw all the riders attack, with Rodrigo leading with 5 minutes left in Q2. Then we saw all the riders enter the pit box to prepare for the final part of the session, and at that moment it could be seen on television that Rodrigo and Alcoba, the team-mates, were talking in the box to prepare the strategy, and it paid off brilliantly, as they secured a 1-2 on the grid.
Finally, pole position goes to Rodrigo, who set a time of 1:47.597, while Alcoba will start in second, having finished more than three tenths behind the poleman. The top 10 was completed by Antonelli, Nepa, Guevara, Mcphee, Binder, Suzuki, Masia and Rossi.
On to the race.
