Fabio Quartararo takes MotoGP pole position at Mugello
Rider Fabio Quartararo has taken the MotoGP World Championship pole position at the Mugello Circuit, followed by Bagnaia and Zarco

The MotoGP World Championship was the next to hit the track at the Mugello Circuit to fight for pole position, so expectation was at its peak on the Italian layout, although everyone’s thoughts were on Dupasquier’s condition after his crash in Moto3.
First out were the riders who failed to make the top 10 of the combined practice times, so there was great anticipation to see which two riders would manage to advance to Q2. In the end, the best of this first session were Marc Márquez and Aleix Espargaró.
And then came the moment of truth, Q2, where the riders were battling for pole position. Miller was the first to take the front of the session, but then came the moment of truth, with Aleix Espargaró becoming the first fast reference. Quickly, though, Jack Miller and then Fabio Quartararo moved to the top with a lap time to be reckoned with.
Quartararo kept lowering his own lap time over several consecutive laps, always alone on track, but with two minutes to go we saw him set a 1:45.1, leaving the Frenchman in another league compared to the rest of the riders.
In the end, pole position went to Quartararo, his fourth in a row for the number 20. Behind him, Aleix Espargaró fought to get into the front row of the grid, but Bagnaia and Zarco managed to improve their times. The top 10 was completed by Quartararo, Bagnaia, Zarco, Aleix Espargaró, Miller, Binder, Oliveira, Rins, Mir and Morbidelli.
On to the race.
