Dani Pedrosa surprises everyone and takes pole position for MotoGP at Jerez
A surprise in the MotoGP pole position at the Jerez Grand Prix, as the pole man was Dani Pedrosa, who set a time of 1:39.202 and took the front spot on the grid, while behind him lined up Jorge Lorenzo, the rider with the best pace and the favorite to take pole.
Pedrosa certainly did not expect this pole, as he was only looking for a good race pace, but he achieved that lap time, which gave him his first pole of the season and his 14th pole in the premier class, making him the Spanish rider with the most pole positions in the big category.
So the Catalan will start from pole position, and we can expect a great start and a clear attempt to break away and ride alone, but it will be hard to hold on for the 17 laps given the movements of the RC212V, which still moves too much.
Behind them is Jorge Lorenzo, the rider with the best pace over long runs and Pedrosa’s rival for the race, but the Mallorcan will have to keep a close eye on the Catalan, as he will try to get away quickly from the start.
Casey Stoner has taken the second row of the grid, and behind the Australian, Valentino Rossi, who seems to be struggling at the Spanish Grand Prix, mainly because of the discomfort he feels from his injury, but tomorrow in the race he will surely give everything and be with the leading riders.
The rest of the Spanish riders have qualified in 13th place for Bautista, 14th for Barberá and 15th for Espargaró, who crashed, fortunately without serious consequences, and was able to return to the track.
We will keep watching MotoGP.
