The MotoGP World Championship was the last to hit the Motegi track for the Japanese Grand Prix race, in a race declared wet, with maximum tension and excitement between the two Yamaha riders, Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi.
The start was very good for Valentino, while we saw Márquez having problems, the Honda made a wheelie that left him somewhat behind; for his part, Lorenzo moved into second and before the end of the first lap the Mallorcan was already 1st and pushing with everything to open a gap with the 46.
With 15 laps to go the race and the positions were stalled, with a strong leader like Lorenzo, with Rossi and Dovi maintaining their distances and in podium positions, and later Pedrosa, who neither got close to the Italian on the Ducati nor saw his fourth position threatened by his teammate. But after two laps we saw the 26 get on Dovi’s tail and manage to overtake the Italian to move into podium positions.
With the last 10 laps we entered an exciting moment of the race, since a spectacular Pedrosa has set an incredible pace, and has been closing in on the two Yamahas at the front, reaching Rossi’s rear wheel with 9 laps to go, so there was plenty of margin for the 26, but he didn’t think twice and on that same lap he pushed in and managed to overtake the Italian, so a brutal pace and with the complete package of the bike much better.
In images they showed us the front tyres of the Yamahas quite worn out and that could be one of the reasons for the drop in performance of both machines, while Pedrosa was able to better preserve his Honda and began to set an incredible pace in the last part of the race. With 6 laps to go he managed to overtake the 99 and move into the lead; without a doubt today Dani was at a different pace in the second half of the race, when the performance of the bikes dropped for all the participants.
Rossi picked up the pace a little in the final part of the race, and with 5 laps to go he chased down Lorenzo and overtook him, all with the world championship in mind. And so the laps went by, seeing Pedrosa win in Japan after a spectacular finish, followed by Rossi and Lorenzo.
The top 10 was completed by Márquez 4th, Dovizioso 5th, Cal Crutchlow 6th, Smith 7th, Nakasuga 8th, Barberá 9th and Redding 10th. With this result we have that Rossi arrives at the next event in Phillip Island, Australia, with an 18-point advantage over Lorenzo in the championship standings.
Great victory for Dani, the first of the 2015 season.
