Casey Stoner says "Goodbye" on his blog
This week, rider Casey Stoner wrote for the last time on the Repsol blog he has had during these seasons, but he wanted to write thanking all the support from fans and his team, and to talk about these very special days in Valencia.
Rider Casey Stoner wrote for the last time this week on his personal Repsol blog where he has been taking part since he joined the Repsol team Honda of the MotoGP World Championship, and he has done so to say farewell, to say goodbye after his last race of the season in Valencia, to say goodbye after his last appearance in his racing career.
Don’t miss anything the Australian has commented on in his blog from Valencia, while preparing everything necessary to head home, with his first stop being Switzerland, where he has his usual residence during the season.
I’m writing to you from Valencia. We’ve loaded the truck and the caravan and we’re preparing the trip to Switzerland for this evening. While I was packing up the watches I earned from my poles and the 2012 trophies, and sorting out my suits, boots, etc., I was thinking that I am really leaving the world of motorcycles now. I’m not a very emotional person, but I assure you that now I do feel emotional.
About his team he has nothing but words of affection and admiration; for him it has been his second family, and the circuits have been his second home since he started in this world championship.
My team has been like a second family and the circuits like my second home for as long as I can remember, so it’s going to be very strange not to be there when they do the 2013 tests.
He has also spoken about the race in Valencia, a bit peculiar due to the weather conditions, but giving his maximum at every moment.
This weekend’s race was quite frustrating. I wish we could have raced in the dry in my last race, but I guess we used up our luck with the time we had at Phillip Island!
I really didn’t want to go out and race in the wet here in Valencia, but I’m glad I finished on the podium in my last race.
We invited some friends from Australia, and Chaz (Davies) and his girlfriend also paid us a visit. And although the race wasn’t ideal, it was great to have good friends around, also at the Sunday ceremony. I miss a quality social life, and we’re looking forward to having more of it now!
He is happy because everything has gone well, because during these last races his ankle has held up without problems and has suffered no injury, which is what worried him most.
The last few weeks have been very long and I’m relieved that the season has finally ended, and even more so that I didn’t hurt my ankle. I’m disappointed at not being able to fight for the Title until the end because of the injury, but life is like that sometimes, and you have to endure it. It’s a shame that it happened in my last year in MotoGP.
Time to go home, change of life.
Now we’re heading home, I’ll empty my suitcases and simply enjoy being at home and spending a lot of time with my family.
This is my last blog with Repsol, and I thank you all for your comments and the tweets I have received. Thank you very much for your support throughout my whole career, and thanks to the sponsors and to everyone who made it possible. I’m sure that next year I’ll see one or two races in person, perhaps I’ll choose a wet race, and a cold one, to enjoy the tea I’ll have in the warmth of the pit box much more… Once again, thank you.
