Carmelo Morales wins the CEV Moto2 at Albacete
Today at the Albacete circuit, Moto2 opened with the first of the races of the CEV Buckler.
On track, Carmelo was unbeatable. After a rather poor start, he managed to hold the lead by pushing a bit hard into the first corner, where, as he himself commented at the press conference, he almost didn’t make it.
Thankfully, Carmelo said he’d had a bad day and that he felt very tired first thing in the morning. This situation is what made him want to push very hard from the start in order to get away, and he managed it, reaching a lead of up to 5 seconds, which he knew how to manage over the last 5 laps so he could arrive fresher. And it is true that he looked tired after the race.
Jordi Torres finished second, who, struggling to adapt to the tyres, could not keep up with his teammate. It is not easy to change feelings so quickly from one weekend to the next. Even so, the rider put on the table, half-jokingly, a challenge to Carmelo for the next race, also at Albacete, where they will once again face off, this time in the CEV.
To complete the podium, Iván Moreno, who added the spice to the race in a battle for third place with three other riders: Rusell Gómez, Arturo Tizón and Isaac Viñales. From the start he took third position, but a mistake cost him two places, which he would later win back to climb onto the podium. We could see him very happy at the press conference, since after the crash in Catalonia he had been left with a nagging disappointment.
