Barberá aims to repeat his best result at MotoGP Misano
The rider from Dos Aguas finished ahead of the official team's Ducatis, confirming his progress at the Misano circuit.
Throughout the day, Héctor has been the fastest Ducati rider at Misano. He was eighth in the free practice and ninth in qualifying. The MAPFRE Aspar rider is in excellent spirits, he enjoys riding and the results are reflected on the track. He is just 1.4 seconds off the best time, and he has the pace to confirm these good expectations in the race.
It won’t be easy, as the times are very tight, but he will want to shake off the disappointment of the crash at the last corner of the last lap in Indianapolis and he surely wants a very good result.
Statements from Héctor Barberá, 9th (1:34.592):
Things don’t happen by chance, we’re riding fast because we’ve been putting in a lot of effort over several races. The bike is working perfectly, we’ve barely changed anything, I’m simply trying to get the most out of my riding, with this setup that I like quite a lot.
My pace, on used tyres, is in the low 1’35s, that’s how I should be turning in the race tomorrow. I completed all the laps on my own, and with very worn tyres. The bike is working very well here, and looking at the times we’re riding just like Stoner did last year.
I have several goals in mind, one of them is to improve the starts and the first few laps. I think that’s where the key to the race lies, and from there, if we manage it, we have the pace to finish quite high up. I had never arrived at a race with things as clear as they are now, we have to make the most of it.
