Cradle of Champions

Albaida hosted the fifth round of the Bankia Cradle of Champions

Summary of the fifth round of the Bankia Cradle of Champions held in the Valencian town of Albaida, with wins for Ruda, Salac, Uviña and Gómez

With the round held on Saturday 29 July in the Valencian town of Albaida, the Bankia Cradle of Champions reaches the midpoint of the season, with doubles for Marcos Ruda in the Minimotos category, for Filip Salac in MiniGP 110, and wins for Joan Uviña and Francisco Gómez in MiniGP 140.

One of the novelties this round brought was that Manuel González followed in the footsteps of Filip Salac and also entered the MiniGP 140 category, clearly seeking experience and a future move to that class at the end of the season. In this way, both riders compete in both engine sizes.

In the Minimotos category, Mallorcan Marcos Ruda is heading straight for the title, with another double. Alongside him, Julio Herráez from Albal (Valencia) stood on the podium in second place after battling with Marcos. Luis Sánchez has progressed considerably at this round, finishing third in both heats, and is now in direct contention with Izan Guevara for the overall championship standings.

In MiniGP 110, the start saw Manu González and Adrián Huertas crash (second and third in the overall standings), which made Czech rider Filip Salac’s win extend his lead. The two Madrid riders collided at the first corners and could not avoid the fall. In this first heat, the runner-up was Kiko Aguilera and third was Chencho Amber. In the second heat, Salac repeated his victory, but this time with Manuel González and Adrián Huertas on the podium.

With the absence through injury of championship leader Alejandro Ruiz and of Josito García, who was competing in the European championship, the MiniGP 140 category was more open than ever. In the first race, the win went to Joan Uviña, with Francisco Gómez and Jorge Moreno on the podium. In the second heat, Francisco Gómez beat Uviña, with Mika Pérez in third place.

Taking advantage of this round, the Bankia Cradle of Champions handed out awards to riders based on their school grades. These went to: Filip Salac, Aarón Escalera, Arturo Ramírez, Luis Miguel Verdugo, Marcos García, Paqui Vila, Marcos Garrido, Iván Miralles, Samuel Di Sora, Mika Pérez, Pedro Javier Castaño and David TT. In addition, effort awards were given to Jorge López, Mikel Gamarra, Rocío Requena and Ricardo Soriano. The next round is on 19 August at the Burgos circuit of Kotar.
