This weekend the penultimate round of the 2014 season will take place at the Magny-Cours Circuit, where we’ll once again see Toni Elías in action, so tension is at its maximum in the final part of this very interesting championship.
Toni Elías finished eighth in the second race and in the first he had to retire after crashing while running seventh at this French track last season. He already knows the circuit, though, so that’s a point in favour of the Red Devils rider.
The Red Devils rider, ninth in the overall standings, just three points behind seventh place and two behind eighth, will try to recover the race pace he couldn’t show at Jerez. The goal is to go head-to-head with the factory machines again, as he has been doing in recent races.
Statements from Toni Elías:
Magny-Cours is a circuit I really liked last season, even though the weather made things difficult for us, as it rained during all the practice sessions and the races were run on dry tarmac. It was one of the toughest Sundays I’ve ever had. But it’s a fun track, despite being very technical and complicated.
We’ll try to have good pace and maintain it for the races, unlike at Jerez, where we were going well on Saturday but on Sunday we couldn’t get the positions we were hoping for. Also, at this circuit it’s important to get a good qualifying result for a strong grid position. Let’s see if the weather lets us prepare the races better this year, but from my experience in France I know we’ll have to be ready for anything.
