Toni Bou wins the Trial Nacional round in León

Rider Toni Bou has claimed victory in the fifth round of the Trial Outdoor Spanish Championship and looks in top form, straight on course for the title.

Rider Toni Bou has claimed victory in the fifth round of the 2024 season of the Spanish Outdoor Trial Championship, adding a third win in the national series. He now leads with a nine-point advantage over Adam Raga, with one round still to go.

A truly dream week for the Catalan, who last week celebrated his sixth World Outdoor Trial title, and now he is closing in on the national title, adding yet another entry to his brilliant record. This win in Pobladura de las Regueras (León), held today, has made things much easier for him to claim another championship.

The first lap went to Albert Cabestany, with Bou two points behind. In the second lap, however, things changed: the Montesa rider scored a perfect 100% and was the only one not to drop a single point, cutting into the gap to the Sherco rider and surpassing him to take a hard-earned victory, fought for against tough rivals as always.

Behind, Cabestany finished on the same score as Bou, but the win went to the Montesa rider, while Adam Raga completed the podium of this fifth round, 16 points behind the top two. Casales took 4th and Foret 5th to round out the top five.

With just one round left to conclude, on November 18 at Cal Rosal, Barcelona, the Repsol rider only needs to finish within the top five to secure the title, as he holds a 9-point lead over Raga and 21 points over Cabestany.

Statements from Toni Bou:

The result was uncertain until the very last moment, and I also rode while worrying about my injured leg. It bothered me less than last Sunday, but I can’t help thinking about not making the situation worse. This has been a very important victory with a view to retaining the championship. With a nine-point lead, the title is not guaranteed, but we are in good shape to achieve it.
