Toni Bou wins the Trial Indoor Fiestas del Pilar event

Rider Toni Bou was the winner of the Trial Indoor Fiestas del Pilar, the second of the three scoring rounds for the Spanish Championship in this discipline, held at the Príncipe Felipe Pavilion in Zaragoza. This was the sixth consecutive victory for the Repsol Montesa team rider Honda in the Aragonese capital, a win that puts him in an excellent position to defend the title for a sixth consecutive year.

Having won the first round of this championship, held in March in Málaga, Bou would only need to add four points, that is, a fifth-place finish, in the final round of the calendar, the Trial Indoor Ciutat de Girona, which takes place in a month.

Bou dominated the qualifying lap of the Zaragoza Indoor with authority, closing it with just one penalty point, five fewer than his closest rival. However, in the final, the competition was much tighter and was not decided until the last section. The multiple champion went into it with a single point of advantage, a gap that the rider from Piera knew how to take advantage of and that proved decisive. This edition of the Spanish Trial Indoor Championship will conclude with the round to be held on November 1st in Girona.

The second place went to Jeroni Fajardo, who finished 5 points behind the winner, while Albert Cabestany completed the podium, 15 points back. Raga finished 4th and Casales 5th, completing the top 5. In the overall standings, Bou leads in 1st place with 20 points, followed by Cabestany with 14 points, and Fajardo with 13 points rounds out the top 3.

We had to suffer to achieve this victory, because Jeroni [Fajardo] was very strong and fine-tuned everything right up to the last moment. For me, this win has been as difficult as it is important for the Championship. The crowd undoubtedly enjoyed this close contest, but for us the pressure was significant.
I had not competed in any indoor event for some time, with the sole exception of an exhibition I did a couple of weeks ago in Palau de Plegamans, which helped me regain my rhythm for this kind of competition.
