Toni Bou scores a double at the Spanish Trial Grand Prix

The World Trials Championship visited our country this weekend, with its stop in Córdoba, where Toni Bou emerged stronger, more of a leader and with a bigger points advantage in the overall standings.

This weekend the Spanish Trial Grand Prix was held in Córdoba, specifically in Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo, where once again the great champion Toni Bou triumphed. The Montesa rider continues to amaze everyone attending the Trial events and, despite being physically hindered, he was unstoppable.

On the first day he already secured victory, all with a minor injury to the biceps femoris of the left leg that occurred on Saturday, in order to sign another win, finishing on Sunday with another double in his record and his seventh victory. So not even pain could stop Bou in Córdoba.

The triumph was quite clear for Bou, as he managed to close the event with half the points of his rivals, specifically scoring 10 penalty points, while his main rival, Adam Raga, scored 21 points, undoubtedly a complicated event. This result leaves him as the leader with a 41-point advantage over the second-placed rider, the Repsol rider. Behind Bou and Raga, Jeroni Fajardo placed third with 22 points, very close to the Gas Gas rider, and for the top 5 we have Fujinami with 39 points and James Dabill closing the list.

In the overall World Championship standings Bou currently leads with 157 points, followed by Jeroni Fajardo with 116 points, Adam Raga with 114 points, Albert Cabestany with 114 points and Fujinami with 104 points. Now the ninth and tenth rounds of the World Trial Championship will be held next Saturday and Sunday, June 23 and 24, in Sant Julià de Lòria (Andorra).

Statements from Toni Bou:

It is in situations like these that the team spirit is most appreciated. I am grateful for the support of all its members, from the first to the last.

The pain did not prevent me from riding in this event, in which it was essential to work well on the course and avoid mistakes, although I am sure the muscle injury has been getting worse and, against my will, I will have to rest for a few days. This victory has been very important for the Championship. In this sense, the weekend has been perfect.
