Tito Rabat wins in Moto2 at Sepang, with Espargaró 2nd and Redding 7th
The Moto2 World Championship raced at the Sepang Circuit, on a day full of action, with Tito Rabat as the big winner of this fifteenth round, joined on the podium by Espargaró in 2nd and Luthi in 3rd. A complicated day with that crash on the first lap, and with Tito and Pol really going for it.

The riders of the Moto2 World Championship were the following to head out onto the Sepang track to contest the race of this fifteenth round of the 2013 season, on a very eventful day with a scare at the start of the race, after which we watched Rabat pulling away.
The start was very good for Rabat, who held his position, while Espargaró managed to get past Luthi, and further back, Redding shone with a spectacular start. But before the first lap was complete, we witnessed a horrifying crash, as Pons went down with a very nasty highside, leaving his bike on the track and being avoided by several riders, but others could not, and that terrible incident occurred, which prompted an immediate red flag. Luckily, none of those involved suffered serious physical injuries; they were seen standing next to the medics.
Because of that crash the red flag was shown, and all the riders returned to the pits, awaiting the restart, which would be a 12-lap race. The restart was very good for Espargaró, who got away going all out. He took the lead and started pushing, closely followed by his teammate, and also by Luthi and Nakagami.
For his part, Redding had more difficulties than at the first start, and struggled to get past riders. Meanwhile, at the front, Rabat quickly moved into first place and got past his teammate to start pulling away over these 12 laps, a full sprint race.
Rabat managed to open up a significant gap over his rivals, while Pol had a lot of battling with Luthi. Redding, too, had a lot of fighting to do to get closer to the leading riders, with many riders ahead of the World Championship leader. Although little by little he managed to improve his position, he was far from the fastest man at this round, Tito.
The excitement centred on the final laps between Espargaró and Luthi, and on Redding’s battle to try to improve his position, but with difficulty. So it was a very interesting finish with a lot of on-track action. With two laps to go, we saw Pol manage to get past the Swiss rider and open up a bit of a gap to cut further into the distance to the championship leader. Zarco also did the 40 a favour, as on the last corner he passed Redding, taking more points off him in the overall standings.
Finally, our Tito, the big winner, followed by Espargaró in second place and Thomas Luthi third. The rest of the top 10 was completed by Kallio 4th, Aegerter 5th, Zarco 6th, Redding 7th, Nakagami 8th, Torres 9th and 10th Simón. The rest of our riders finished Cardús 14th, Terol 19th and Mariñelarena 20th.
Now the overall standings have Redding leading, with Espargaró 9 points behind and Rabat 28 points back.
