The Aruba.it Racing-Ducati team for the World Superbike Championship was presented in Italy, specifically at Aruba’s IT1 Data Center, where we saw the two riders who will defend the team’s colours in 2017 showing off the machine with which they will fight for the World SBK championship title.
These two riders are the big favourite Chaz Davies and, on the other hand, the newcomer Marco Melandri, both of whom generate a lot of interest, since the former is the main rival of the two Kawasakis for this season’s title, while the latter marks the Italian’s return to action after a period away from top-level competition.
The top brass of the Borgo Panigale marque, led by Ducati’s President and CEO Claudio Domenicali, told the media that the goal for 2017 is to win the World Superbike title.
After watching a presentation video, the Ducatis with their respective riders appeared on stage to introduce themselves, with everyone seeing the final look of the machines and the complete line-up, the red of Ducati once again dominating, combined with white and black.
Statements from Marco Melandri:
I am excited. I believe I have arrived here in the ideal situation and at the right moment. In the past I have won many races, but I have lost championships. I found a bike that I liked from the very first moment and a fantastic team and atmosphere. I am impatient to get to Australia; I have never felt so motivated.
The event concluded with the presentation of the bikes of the Aruba.it Racing – Junior Team, which will compete in STK1000 with Italian Michael Ruben Rinaldi and Australian Mike Jones.
