Tenerife, a motorcycling island
Last week I had the chance to travel to the island of Tenerife, where I was able to enjoy and see what a true motorcycling destination is. I had heard many times that the Canary Islands were a very motorcycle-friendly area, and now I have been able to see it with my own eyes.
The truth is that when you arrive there, you think it may just be down to the good weather they enjoy most of the year, which encourages good rides on a motorbike, and that is true, but it doesn’t end there.
To begin with, you discover an endless number of roads that would delight more than one city rider, who has to travel several kilometres before reaching a road where they can have a truly riding experience. In Tenerife, on the other hand, you have a road like this as soon as you step onto the asphalt when leaving your home, apartment or hotel.
On this island you can choose routes along the coast or routes into the interior, all with many bends where you can test your skill while always enjoying the finest scenery.
That said, above all I recommend the roads that approach from several directions to Teide. They offer beautiful scenery, the asphalt is very good, and at weekends there is a great motorcycling atmosphere all day long. When I say all day, I mean that at eight in the evening there were still terraces full of large groups of riders. You will find plenty of bars where you can enjoy motorcycles and riders.
The only drawback I find is the same old problem: the damned crash barriers, which are not adapted in many areas. It remains the outstanding issue for the public administration, and we hope that in the future it will change its approach and focus a bit more on us, the motorcyclists.
So you already know: if you are from the island, keep enjoying it, and if you are thinking of going, don’t think twice if you can rent a motorbike. You’ll surely enjoy it.

Muy buen articulo!!! las islas canarias en general, es verdad, son muy moteras y si vienes algun day a Gran Canaria, lo comprobaras tb
Me encanta, por q siempre a las Canarias parece q nos tienen como olvidadas, recomiendo visitar mi isla Gran Canaria, pero sin olvidar las demas, q son preciosas… Saludoss

Siempre había escuchado que hay un problema para las motos en Canarias y es la calima, ese viento que viene del Sahara acompañado con arena del desierto y que puede darte más de un susto. Puedes comentar algo al respecto?

La verdad que sólo puedo comentar de lo vivido en un corto periodo de tiempo, pero por mi experiencia decirte que problemas ninguno.
Además los que circulaban por allí ya te digo que no iban precisamente con el miedo metido en el cuerpo.
Supongo que con los kilómetros algo se puede notar en la combustión del motor. También comentarte que en mi estancia allí llovió un día y fueron bastante nubosas las mañanas del resto y eso ayuda a tener una atmósfera más limpia.
En conclusión no soy el más indicado para darte esas referencias.

Buff la calima es algo con la que convivimos de siempre, y cuando hay no es que no se vea la carretera, es decir por el centro, se ve todo bien, pero si vas ya para mas arriba por la montaña, ya es mas complicado, sobre todo por q en Canarias, tenemos las carreteras del año catapum como digo yo jaja, asi q si ya se hace dificil, con la calima mas….
Ojo tb decir, q la calima no viene siempre, y no solo la calima pone en peligro tanto motos como coches, sino las carreteras y alguna q otra gente loca :).
Alejandro por q no iba a tener percusion el articulo?¿, te agradezco de nuevo, por q ya te digo que siempre las Islas Canarias son casi como las olvidadas y ver articulos referente a cualquier isla, es bueno 🙂
