Team Machado confirms the news about Miguel Oliveira

Yesterday the news reached our ears. It came from the rider’s own Facebook page, which is why at first we did not want to give the news 100% credibility.

Finally, as of today we have the press release from Team Andalucía Banca Cívica, Team Machado, which makes the matter official.

It seems this situation came about because of the rider’s entourage, which, after being warned several times about irregularities, decided to break the agreement and end the relationship between the rider and the team.

We reiterate that it was the party managing the rider’s career that decided to break the contract binding them until the end of the season.

Team Machado makes clear that they always wanted Miguel Oliveira to continue, since they consider him a rider who has shown great quality both as an athlete and as a person.

These are the words of Pedro Machado (Team Director):

This is sad news that I have tried to avoid by all means. We have tried to reach a meeting point with the people managing Miguel’s professional career, but they did not want to honor the agreements signed in the contract. The team’s work has been publicly discredited, which, as director of this structure, I cannot tolerate, all the more so since he has had the best equipment at all times and the team has worked with it tirelessly.

Even so, the final decision was in their hands; they decided not to comply with what was agreed and to end the professional relationship we had.

On behalf of the whole team, I want to thank Miguel for the brilliant work he has shown over these last two years. We wish him the best, and we do not rule out that in the future we may join our paths again.
