Special Moto3 2012: Iván Moreno
Iván Moreno is a new example of how great the championship we have in our homeland is, and so he joins the world championship to fight for his dream.
As the latest addition to the world championship in Moto3 we have Iván Moreno, a rider we include in our special features because he is one of our own. The truth is that his foray into the world championship has been a real surprise, and until the training sessions last week at the IRTA in Valencia we had no idea it was going to unfold this way.
It is news we welcome with great joy and anticipation, because Iván Moreno is one of the riders who, during our short journey in the CEV, has given us his time, and his entire entourage has always been very pleasant with us. As they say, it is only right to be grateful, and we try to return that gratitude with affection.
Last season Iván had his highs and lows. His best moment was undoubtedly reaching the podium at the CEV Albacete, and his stint in the Moto2 world championship, where we saw him on the Asian tour with the Tema Aspar, in Australia and Malaysia.
The lows were those crashes we watched live in our championship. Although they were not extremely serious, they did hurt him, forcing him to go through the hospital and even miss the race at home in Jerez. Those crashes came down to bad luck, since they always occurred due to external conditions beyond his control.
Now the time has come to apply the experience gained on the four-stroke bikes, in Moto3, with the team where he feels at home, the Team Machado. It is a team where the human group has always been very important, and where year after year they show up with great enthusiasm and the assurance of delivering an excellent championship.
Furthermore, Iván starts with the advantage of having raced in Moto2, a category in which he rode four-stroke bikes, which may be an advantage when starting in this new Moto3 category. That said, he will need to train hard, since we know that in this category, due to the low power output, physical condition is a very large percentage of the path to becoming more competitive.
