Scott Deroue wins Race 1 of the Rookies Cup at Sachsenring
Rider Scott Deroue has claimed victory in the first race of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup at the Sachsenring Circuit.
Rider Scott Deroue claimed victory in the first race of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup at the Sachsenring Circuit, in a very interesting duel between the winner and Willi Albert.
Both delivered a thrilling chase, but in the end the 16-year-old rider took the win ahead of the 14-year-old Albert. A most fascinating race on the German track for the Rookies Cup participants.
The battle between Deroue and Albert undoubtedly generated much of the excitement in this first race, as the closest chaser, Karel Hanika, was already more than 16 seconds behind, so the fight for victory was between just two riders. Completing the top 5 were Lukas Trautmann in 4th, more than 20 seconds back, and Florian Alt in 5th.
Meanwhile, the top ten positions went to Marcos Ramírez in 6th, Philipp Oettl in 7th, Hafiq Azmi in 8th, Stefano Manzi in 9th and Aaron España in 10th. So our riders had a good showing in this first race, especially Ramírez and España, while Peréz finished 18th and Jorge Martín 19th.
Today we will have the second race at Sachsenring, so a lot of excitement awaits us at 15:50, after the Moto2 race on the German track.
