Presentation of the Dakar Tour 2016 in Barcelona with the protagonists

The Dakar Tour landed in Spain to present all the new features of the 2016 edition of the toughest rally in the world, which will take place from January 3 to 16 next year in Peru, Bolivia and Argentina. Among those present were great representatives of the discipline such as Marc Coma, Nani Roma, Laia Sanz, Xavi Foj, and many other riders gathered in Barcelona to discover the secrets of the legendary rally for the next edition

Xavier Gavory, the Dakar’s participants manager, was in charge of presenting the 2016 route, with the Andes triptych as the main draw. The cities of Lima, Salta and Rosario will be the protagonists in an edition in which the competitors will visit three South American countries: Peru, Bolivia and Argentina.

In the 2015 edition, a total of 42 Spanish participants took part in this challenge –the sixth most represented nationality– with 29 vehicles and 57 support teams. Among the best results, obviously, stands out the overall motorcycle victory of Marc Coma, who during the presentation commented that he will seek his sixth triumph, which would tie him with the Frenchman Stéphane Peterhansel.

Statements from Marc Coma:

It is a very nice opportunity to achieve my sixth victory, but winning is getting harder every time. We will have to have a perfect year and start preparing right away to arrive in very good shape. The way the competitors are, the slightest mistake will be paid for very dearly.

There is great anticipation to start seeing the new features for the 2016 edition of the Dakar. Everything is ready for the toughest rally in the world.
