Repsol riders Honda go all out at Misano in MotoGP
The 13th round of the MotoGP World Championship calendar arrives at the Misano circuit, where riders Casey Stoner, Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso touch down eager to fight: the 27 will fight to keep their winning streak alive; the 26 will push to climb to the top step of the podium, and the 4 will not stand still on their home track, on their layout and in front of their own fans.
The Repsol Honda MotoGP team riders are ready for the next challenge at the Misano circuit, after the race at Indy, the championship now heads to Italian territory.
The level shown in the United States makes Casey Stoner, Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso, once again, the main contenders for victory. The firm leader of the MotoGP World Championship, Casey Stoner has seven wins this season and exudes a confidence that always makes him the benchmark for the rest of the grid. The Australian has not left the podium in any of the races he has finished this season, and he carries a streak of three consecutive victories that he will try to extend at Misano.
However, with Dani Pedrosa in top form, the Spaniard will undoubtedly be another clear contender for victory. After his wins in Portugal and Germany, and a year ago on the Misano track itself, Pedrosa starts with the goal of improving on his second place from Indianapolis and working to swap that second step of the podium for the first.
A podium that Andrea Dovizioso definitely wants to return to, who showed great pace in the second half of last Sunday’s race and who this week will race on a track located just 60 kilometres from his home.
Below you can see the statements from Dani Pedrosa:
After the good race we had in Indy, we arrive at Misano with a positive mood. The circuit is very different from last week’s, but last year we had a very good race there and we will try to repeat it. We have to be a little stronger on Saturday and prepare the race as well as we can.
Misano is a track that requires good acceleration and braking, so that will be our main priority when we start working on the bike’s settings.
After the good result in North America, it is good to go straight to Misano. I hope we can keep working well with the team and take a new step forward.
Statements from Andrea Dovizioso:
We arrive at Misano after a disappointing result at Indianapolis, but we are determined to turn the page and return to the podium. The conditions at Indianapolis were very tough but we managed to set our best time on the last lap.
That shows we are fast and therefore we arrive at Misano stronger and more motivated. We are in third place in the championship and that is what matters. We will keep fighting and give our all at every Grand Prix, because we believe second place in the World Championship is not an impossible goal.
Last year here I finished fourth behind Valentino [Rossi]. This year we want to take one more step and climb onto the podium. I am sure that with the experience I have gained this season, we can be strong. I don’t live very far away and after getting on the podium at Mugello, I would love to have another good result in front of the Italian crowd.
Statements from Casey Stoner:
I can’t wait to get to San Marino and see how competitive we are. In 2007 and 2008 we were fast there, I missed the 2009 race and last year we had some problems, so we have results of all kinds. It’s a beautiful track, I like the two corners coming out of the back straight, they are very fun and very fast.
I know Dani [Pedrosa] and Jorge [Lorenzo] will be very quick there, but we come off the back of three straight wins and we are in a very strong position in the championship, so we’ll see what we can do and I’m confident of getting a good result.
