Oliveira 10th and Moncayo 11th in a tough race at Misano

Despite the results, Team Machado leaves Misano with many lessons learned, and with more strength for Alberto Moncayo and Miguel Oliveira.

Moncayo arrived with a shoulder injury that has had him working at half throttle all weekend, and Miguel, on the other hand, had no references for this circuit, although he has adapted very well.

This weekend the team had to give 110% at Team Andalucía, and everything was problems. They have managed to recover from the difficulties that arose every day, so the team knows that when they reach Aragón they will show what a great team they are.

Oliveira has learned many things at Misano; he now knows he can achieve competitive results in both practice and the race, and at the end of the weekend he was very happy.

Miguel Oliveira (#44) (10th)

The race has been quite tough; the temperature was quite high, and that meant we had to make an additional effort. Today, in the morning practice, we had a problem with the front wheel, which we were able to fix before the race. In the race I got a good start and tried not to let the group in front get away, but I couldn’t because a strong rebound from the rear wheel appeared that wouldn’t let me open the throttle early.

But I’m leaving happy because we were able to finish another race and I gained experience, which is the main objective of this season.

Alberto Moncayo (#23) (11th)

It has been a very complicated weekend and different from what we are used to. We had fun in the race because this race has helped us learn many things. We had an interesting battle, but we also had to deal with a series of circumstances that kept coming up and made us work hard here at Misano.

I’m happy because, although I didn’t manage a good fast lap, we were able to manage tyre wear, I fought in an interesting group and managed to make a late push at the end of the race that gained me positions. Now it’s time to rest a little, make sure the shoulder is at 100% for the next race and give everything at the GP of Aragón.

Pedro Machado (Team Director, Andalucía Banca Cívica)

It has been a positive race, because we scored points with both riders despite all the setbacks. Miguel, we must not lose sight of the fact that this is his first year and that he is racing for the first time at most of the circuits, fought at a very good level and finished the race, which is very important.

Alberto achieved a hard-fought 11th place in a race where he also had to face the discomfort from the fall that prevents him from riding comfortably.

I think the overall summary is positive and now it’s time to focus on the GP of Aragón, where we return to a home circuit where we can surely perform well; we are very motivated since we will have the opportunity to race in front of our sponsors, and the best way to thank them for their effort is with a result that we will fight for tooth and nail.
