Marc Márquez penalized with a double long lap penalty at the MotoGP round in Argentina
Rider Marc Márquez is penalized for aggressive riding following his incident with Oliveira at the MotoGP round in Portugal.

MotoGP rider Marc Márquez has been penalized by Race Direction after his incident with Miguel Oliveira in the race of the premier class of the World Motorcycle Championship held at the Portimão Circuit in Portugal.
Márquez made a rushed mistake which led to contact with Jorge Martín, who could have crashed out for the Ducati rider, but which completely affected his race, and with the heavy collision he had with Miguel Oliveira, which caused both riders to fall.
There is no doubt it was a mistake that Race Direction announced it would review after the race, and it has already penalized him with a double long lap penalty for the Honda at the next round of the World Championship, which takes place this week at the Termas de Río Hondo Circuit in Argentina.
The most complicated part is the physical situation of Márquez himself, who may have fractured a metacarpal in his right hand. He will shortly visit the Hospital Dexeus in Barcelona, and we will see whether he can take part in the next round. Meanwhile, the good news comes from Oliveira, who only suffered a bruise to his leg and will be ready in Argentina.
The incident has generated a lot of debate, it is true that Marc’s mistake was serious, one of excessive haste for the start of the season, and that is why he has been penalized. We must also acknowledge Marc’s attitude in immediately going to check on Miguel’s condition and going to his garage to apologize to everyone. Still, it is clear that mistakes of this kind must not happen again in the future.
On to the next round.
