Marc García wins the WorldSSP 300 race at Imola
Rider Marc García has taken the WorldSSP 300 victory at the Imola Circuit.

This weekend our riders have put in a great performance at the Imola Circuit, notably Jordi Torres’s comeback in Superbike, Xavi Forés’s fourth place ahead of an official Ducati, and Román Ramos’s improved feeling on the bike. But it wasn’t only the SBK riders who had a good day at the Italian track: rider Marc García took the victory in WorldSSP300.
García won this third round but it was far from easy. It was a group race, and the outcome was decided in the final part of the race, with just 0.177s separating García and Coppola, who led the race at various stages, with Mykyta Kalinin also on the podium.
At the end of a closely fought 11-lap race, García managed to pass Coppola in the final corners to claim the win by just 0.177s, while Borja Sánchez crossed the line moments later. However, Sánchez was penalised by Race Direction for a manoeuvre on the final lap and was relegated to fourth place, handing third place on the podium to Ukrainian Kalinin.
Championship leader Scott Deroue did not have a good weekend, although he managed to salvage something in the race, finishing in 11th position. With this result he remains championship leader, 14 points ahead of Coppola.
The WorldSSP300 riders will be back in action at Donington in two weeks, during the weekend of 26 to 28 May.
