Lowes and Byrne win at the BSB round at Oulton Park

The British Superbike Championship held its third round of the 2013 season yesterday at Oulton Park Circuit, where the big winners were Alex Lowes and Shane Byrne, the former winning the first race and the latter the second race on the British track.

The third round of the British Superbike Championship season was held at Oulton Park, where we saw a lot of action on Monday, since this event is always held on a Monday and not on a Sunday as usual, with Alex Lowes and Shane Byrne being the winners.

Lowes was the big winner in the first BSB race, although it was far from easy for him, with an intense battle against the champion, Shane Byrne, who ultimately crashed while fighting with Lowes, so maximum excitement right to the end, but a shame about the crash of rider 67 after his great work.

Byrne was the first leader at the start of the race, alongside Lowes and Brookes, with an interesting battle between them, but it was Lowes’ day, while it wasn’t a good day for the champion after all his effort. Second place went to James Ellison, who crossed the line more than three seconds behind, and Josh Brookes completed the podium top 3, over five seconds back.

The rest of the top 10 positions were Kirkham 4th, Bridewell 5th, Hickman 6th, Westmoreland 7th, Jacobsen 8th, Walker 9th and Palmer 10th.

The second race was the resurgence of Byrne. After the disappointment of the first race, it was his turn at Oulton Park, and he secured victory in this second outing on track for the BSB, with his rivals again being Brookes and Lowes.

On lap 7 Lowes passed Byrne and tried to pull away, but on this occasion he could not hold the position, Shane took it back and placed himself first in the battle, ultimately winning this second race ahead of Brookes, who finished 2nd 0.788s behind, while Lowes was 3rd nearly a second behind. Completing the top 10 were Kirkham 4th, Bridewell 5th, Walker 6th, Mainwaring 7th, Farmer 8th, Palmer 9th and Waters 10th.
