Laia Sanz finishes third in the Women's Enduro World Championship
Rider Laia Sanz finished third in the Enduro World Championship after her result in the round held in France this past weekend. Without a doubt, the Catalan rider adapts very well to all disciplines, and this will be of great help for her challenge at the 2011 Dakar.
The Trial champion wants to deepen her learning on the bike ahead of her participation in the toughest rally in the world, which is why she took part in this Enduro event, where she finished third in the overall standings.
It was not easy at all, since the accumulated mud forced Sanz to speed up her learning under those conditions, but it did not take her long to make a place for herself among the best, achieving second and third place in the two heats and ending up third overall.
Below you can see Sanz’s statements:
The trails turned into real mudflats and I had several crashes in the timed sections. It has been very tough, but I leave satisfied because all of this helps me draw conclusions.
The feeling has been better today, but I also bit the mud, which was slipping as if it were ice. I am convinced that if I had been more conservative in the timed sections I would have had a chance, since in the final stretch I made up a lot of time on the other girls.
Third place is almost anecdotal. For the moment this championship was not a goal, although I am very happy to have been able to take part in this first edition.
Although for me it was like training in the form of a race, you always hope to achieve the maximum. Perhaps next year I will set specific goals, but what mattered here was adding kilometres in a type of race that helps me a great deal in my learning.
We will keep an eye on Laia Sanz.

¡¿Satisfecha?!
