Kawasaki Motors Corporation has announced that it will launch a mid-displacement, high-performance motorcycle within its famous Ninja range: the ZX-4R. Featuring a newly designed engine and chassis, the new addition to Kawasaki’s Supersports line will include a Ninja ZX-4RR variant.

With specifications that vary by market, the more powerful Ninja ZX-4R is equipped with a high-performance engine that delivers an exceptional 80 hp on a lightweight, compact chassis based on the Ninja ZX-25R for better cornering performance and a sense of acceleration. Upon its introduction, the Ninja ZX will be the only full-fairing supersport model in the 400cc category with a four-cylinder engine. It inherits the aggressive look and premium equipment expected of the Ninja ZX family, while refining the exhaust sound.

Whether you are an experienced rider or new to the world of Supersport, Ninja ZX-4R riders will experience the fascinating riding pleasure of the “APEX PREDATOR” concept on the track or on the street.

At the heart of this impressive machine is a newly developed 399 cc liquid-cooled DOHC 4-cylinder engine, based on the technology of Kawasaki’s Ninja ZX supersports, capable of delivering a maximum output of 57 kW (77 hp) and 59 kW (80 hp) when the intake air is pressurized*. The engine has been designed to combine strong low and mid-range torque with high power at high rpm in all riding situations, from daily use to track riding.

Equipped with Kawasaki’s famous Ram Air system, which increases filling efficiency and helps improve engine performance, the air intake is located in the center of the fairing, with a design instantly recognizable as part of the Ninja ZX series. The Ram Air ducts are located on the left side of the front fork, leading to the airbox.

At first glance, it is impossible to mistake the lines of this new Ninja for its aggressive styling, which exudes the power and strength for which the Ninja ZX series is known. The high-quality look of the Ninja ZX-4R is further enhanced by the use of LED lighting throughout, from the dual headlight to the rear taillight.

The electronic rider aids also play a prominent role in this latest Ninja, with integrated riding modes that link KTRC (Kawasaki Traction Control) and Power Modes. Of the four different modes – Sport, Road, Rain, and Rider (configurable), the rider can easily select the appropriate setting to suit riding conditions and their own riding style. The Ninja ZX-4RR also features a KQS (Kawasaki Quick Shifter) that allows upshifting and downshifting without using the clutch.

The instrument panel of the Ninja ZX-4R is equipped with a full-color, fully digital 4.3-inch LCD display that provides excellent visibility and a high-quality feel. It integrates a track mode that displays lap times, gear position, and RPM above 10,000 rpm in an easy-to-read format. The Kawasaki RIDEOLOGY app can be used to connect to a smartphone and perform various functions, such as recording GPS route information and the vehicle’s riding data.
