Karel Hanika wins Race 1 of the Rookies Cup at Motorland
Rider Karel Hanika has taken victory in the first race of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup at the Motorland Aragón Circuit, so the 2013 Champion of this edition is rounding off a special season for him and his team with this seventh win.
Although the Czech rider’s victory was far from clear until the very end of the race, followed by Scott Deroue who finished more than 1.5s behind the leader. Meanwhile, third place went to Stefano Manzi, 1.6s behind the winner of the penultimate round of the promotional cup.
Our Marcos was the dominant force of the race, but the 24 had a tremendous scare, which he managed to save in a masterful way, as any other rider would have hit the ground. However, the Spanish Speedway Championship star managed to stay on the bike and recover, finishing his race from 8th place.
It was also a great performance for Joan Mir, who finished 4th and narrowly missed the podium after battling with Deroue and Manzi. It was extremely difficult, as there were even more riders in that fight, so intensity was at its maximum on the Aragón track.
The top 10 was completed by Binder 4th, Ray 5th, Martín 7th, Ramírez 8th, Bastianini 9th and Razgatlioglu 10th, with Pérez 11th.
Tomorrow the second Rookies race at Motorland, the final race of the 2013 season, which will be broadcast at 15:30 after the Moto3, Moto2 and MotoGP races.
