Jorge Lorenzo triumphs at the CER de Catalunya

Racer Jorge Lorenzo also wins in cars. Undoubtedly, today the Mallorcan adds another victory at the Circuit de Catalunya, though this time on four wheels and alongside De los Milagros and Fontes.

Racer Jorge Lorenzo has claimed victory in the Spanish Endurance Championship (CER) round at the Circuit de Catalunya, together with his teammates José Manuel de los Milagros and Álvaro Fontes.

The PCR Sport team took the win in the fifth round of the CER season, thanks to the driving of its three regular drivers, who got off to a very strong start from fifth place on the grid with their Seat León Supercopa (D4). Although it was not easy, the two-hour-and-one-lap race on the Catalan track was very intense.

The grid consisted of around 70 vehicles, so there was great participation in this edition of the 2011 CER, in which the MotoGP World Champion, Jorge Lorenzo, returned to compete, although this time at the controls of a Seat León rather than a Fiat 500 Abarth. Clearly, with a more competitive car, he placed himself among the favorites for victory.

And in the end that is exactly what happened: the combination of De Los Milagros, Lorenzo and Fontes was perfect, and they secured the win in this highly demanding endurance race.

The event began with Fontes at the controls of the Seat León; afterwards, José Manuel de los Milagros took over around the halfway point of the race, and Jorge Lorenzo was the last to get into the car, delivering the final push to an intense race in which they emerged as the winners.

The second-place finishers were Marc Carol and Alan Sicart (RSV Motorsport/Seat León Supercopa/ D4), after the Sun Race Engineering entry (Seat León Supercopa/ D4) of Jordi Oriola and David Cebrián ceded this position after being penalized with a drive-through for overtaking under the safety car, which was deployed on the final stretch of the race.

Following this round, Carol and Sicart are the new leaders of the championship, benefiting from the retirement of championship leader Amàlia Vinyes (Baporo Motorsport/Seat León Supercopa/ D4), who was teaming up with Miquel Toril, after being involved in an incident at the first corner of the race.

Below you can see the statements from Jorge Lorenzo:

First of all, I want to thank the team for giving me this very fun opportunity, which is very different from motorcycles.

I had to adapt in just a few hours, and it is an experience I would like to repeat. Now I need to focus on the next motorcycle race.

An interesting race.
