Jorge Lorenzo triumphs at Estoril and leaves the MotoGP World Championship tight
The rider Jorge Lorenzo has won the Portuguese MotoGP Grand Prix. It seems the Mallorcan is fully charged and has taken his fourth victory of the season at the Estoril circuit.
The rider on the Fiat Yamaha led the race from start to finish. After an early moment in which Dani Pedrosa took the lead, the Balearic rider took control of the race and pulled the group along at a pace that no other competitor could follow.
Without a doubt, it was a great win, with more than six seconds of advantage over the second-placed rider, Casey Stoner. Stoner has made a good return to competition with this podium finish on Portuguese soil, which will surely boost his confidence for the upcoming races on the calendar.
Behind them was Pedrosa, who led the race in its opening moments after one of his great starts. The truth is that the Catalan continues to amaze with his spectacular starts from every position on the grid.
However, he was later overtaken by Lorenzo and Stoner, leaving him in third place, the final position at the end of the Portuguese race. Even so, the Catalan is not very happy with the result, as he now has eight podium finishes this season and remains third in the overall standings.
Rossi, on the other hand, did not have a good day. While his teammate was setting the fastest lap times, the Italian kept falling further behind, so the 100th Grand Prix he was racing with Yamaha did not end as the champion would have wished.
So now the World Championship is heating up, as Lorenzo has cut the gap to just 18 points. In the three remaining races, we are going to see a fierce battle between the challenger and the great Champion.
We will keep a close eye on MotoGP.
