Jorge Lorenzo is the fastest in the 1st free practice session at Estoril
Rider Jorge Lorenzo was the fastest in the first free practice session of the Portuguese Grand Prix, and the Mallorcan will undoubtedly try to make things difficult for Valentino Rossi at Estoril, and to do so he wanted to show his strength from the very start.
The Yamaha rider set a time of 1:37.185 in the MotoGP FP1, so he is starting to stake out territory against his main rival, Rossi, although the Mallorcan cannot forget either Dani Pedrosa or Casey Stoner; the Australian has completed the group of four magnificent riders after three races absent.
Behind the Balearic rider, Pedrosa has placed himself, who was at the head of the classification until his compatriot improved his lap time, but the Catalan has produced some good times, all despite having had an off-track excursion while trying to recover the top position.
Behind the Spanish duo, the champion Rossi has placed himself, finishing just under half a second behind his teammate, but the Italian must be careful because one mistake could complicate his title chances; for now, of course, he is the big favorite.
The fourth place went to the newly returned Stoner; it seems the Australian is not in very bad form, since he can go very fast with his red missile, so the great dominator of the Ducati has returned to competition and will make things difficult for his rivals.
That is how the front positions look; it seems the four magnificent riders have come together again and the battle at Estoril will be spectacular, we will see how the official Grand Prix session goes, although the big favorites are Lorenzo and Rossi.
We will keep a close eye on MotoGP.
