Jorge Lorenzo has taken pole position in MotoGP at Motegi
Rider Jorge Lorenzo has taken pole position for the Japanese Grand Prix with a lap time of 1:45.543, so the Mallorcan returns to the top spot and claims his fourth pole of the season, while the current world champion Casey Stoner has qualified behind him.
The Ducati rider will do everything possible to prevent Rossi from clinching the title in Japan, although the Italian has many possible combinations to achieve his goal. We’ll see what happens tomorrow at the Twin Ring Motegi circuit.
Completing the front row is Nicky Hayden, Stoner’s future teammate at Ducati, who continues his progress and is regaining the confidence that gave him the championship title in 2006, so the Michelin riders are becoming somewhat competitive again.
While championship leader Valentino Rossi settled for fourth place, since it is better not to risk a crash that could be fatal to his ambitions, as he will go out tomorrow in pursuit of his sixth MotoGP crown.
For his part, Dani Pedrosa qualified in fifth position between Rossi and Capirossi, two riders who are very strong at Motegi. Therefore, the Spaniard will need to demonstrate his potential with the valve-spring engine and with Bridgestone tyres in a race that is supposedly dry.
We will keep a close eye on MotoGP at Motegi; tomorrow will be a spectacle.
