Iván Silva ready and prepared for StockExtreme CEV at Jerez
The Kawasaki Palmeto Racing riders have an important day today at the Jerez circuit, as Iván Silva, who starts from sixth position, is competing for the CEV category title.
The Kawasaki Palmeto riders are facing the final round of the Stock Extreme class of the Spanish Speed Championship with great enthusiasm and the title in mind, as Iván Silva has the chance to win the national crown.
Iván Silva finished the timed training sessions in sixth place on a day marked by heavy rainfall, while Guillermo Casas, making his debut in the category, was twelfth and Marco Solorza was twenty-fifth.
The 22, who is fighting today for the Stock Extreme Spanish Champion title, finished sixth on a day in which he preferred not to take risks. Especially considering that his rival in the championship fight, Santiago Barragán, ended the day in sixteenth place. So, looking ahead to today, the Catalan will try to manage his points advantage going into the race without getting involved in direct battles if, as everything suggests, it continues raining tomorrow.
For Guillermo Casas, it has been an intensive weekend in terms of learning, as it is the first time he is competing on a Stock Extreme bike and also the first time he has faced a wet track. Even so, the Madrid native has secured a very commendable twelfth position, which places him in direct contention for the top ten in the race. The third member of the team, Marco Solorza, is competing this weekend on a ZX 10 R from last season to gain experience for next year. The Argentine has been working hard together with the team on setting up a bike that is much more demanding than the current ZX models. Even so, he managed to finish twenty-fifth.
Statements from Iván Silva:
It has been a complicated day, so we focused on avoiding mistakes and staying on the bike without crashing. We had to think about tomorrow; there is only one day left and we are closer to achieving the goal that everyone on the team has set since the start of the year.
In principle, I am planning tomorrow’s race without getting into direct battles with the riders ahead if these conditions continue, and keeping an eye on the pit board to manage the points margin we have. What matters tomorrow is the championship.
Statements from Guillermo Casas:
It was the first time I got on a bike in these wet conditions. We have been working on the setup; we have not improved our times as much as we would have liked, but I am starting from 12th position, and that is positive considering this is my first race in Stock Extreme and I had never ridden in the wet.
I hope to have a good race tomorrow, and it would be wonderful to finish among the top ten, dedicating it to my mother and to Clandestino Beach Resort, who are helping me a great deal in my sporting career.
Statements from Marco Solorza:
I am adapting to this bike, which is very different from the one I rode last week. We have been looking all day to improve the setting, although we still have a lot of work ahead of us. Even so, we improved a lot in the second session, but we still need it to work perfectly on acceleration.
I hope that tomorrow I can keep up the progress and head out to race in optimal condition to achieve a good result. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my father, my brother and my girlfriend for the support they give me every day.
