Iván Moreno goes for the podium in the fifth CEV race
The Andalusian rider will start from 7th place on the grid after suffering countless problems during the two qualifying sessions.
After the summer break, the Albacete circuit hosts the fifth race of the Spanish Speed Championship. Team Andalucía-Banca Cívica, with Iván Moreno as their rider, arrive with their spirits very high after the podium achieved at the last round, also held at Albacete.
Luck has not been on the rider’s side today, as he suffered several problems with the bike, which affected him throughout the day, preventing him from improving his times in the second official qualifying session.
Statements from Iván Moreno, 7th (1:32.703):
It has been a very difficult Saturday. I thought bad-luck weekends didn’t exist, but on Friday the crash set back our work and, to make matters worse, today we ran into problems that arose from that crash.
We would have liked to try more things to achieve a better lap time and a better set-up for the race. The positive is that the team managed to find and fix the problem, which motivates us to go out at 100% tomorrow and get a great result.
Statements from Pedro Machado, team director:
The result is not very positive, since our expectations for this qualifying session were higher. Iván came with great determination, but several setbacks prevented him from running at the pace we should have been capable of. Friday’s crash caused some issues that gradually grew worse and did not allow Iván to ride comfortably during today’s session.
Thanks to the team’s work, the problem was identified and we managed to fix it, so in the warm-up we could verify that everything is correct. Even so, we are not doing so badly, and if we get a good start tomorrow we can fight for the podium without ruling out victory.
