Iannone and Pirro test Ducati at the Mugello Circuit
The Ducati team will begin three days of testing at the Mugello Circuit tomorrow, where Andrea Iannone and Michele Pirro will ride the Ducati Desmosedici.
The seats in the MotoGP World Championship are almost filled for next season, but there are still moves and tests that spark interest, as they could be decisive for several riders. On this occasion we’re talking about the test that starts tomorrow at the Mugello Circuit for Ducati with Michele Pirro and Andrea Iannone, while Redding already made it quite clear after his test on the Italian machine that he doesn’t like the Ducati.
For their part, Iannone and Pirro will test the Desmosedici on the Italian track, which is one of the possibilities for the 2013 MotoGP season, while another of the names most linked to the team, Danilo Petrucci, will ultimately not be present at the test, and it seems he falls off the list of possible riders. Above all, it will be interesting to see Pirro in action with the Italian bike, since it will be the first time he rides a Ducati.
Without a doubt, Pirro would be an interesting option for Ducati, since he has experience in the premier class, and the Italian has commented that his adventure in CRT is not going as expected, that it is not competitive at all, and that he was even better off in the Moto2 category, so this is a new possibility for the current Team Gresini CRT rider.
Ducati’s tests with young riders continue and are gaining more momentum, as Iannone repeats the experience, so the Italian seems to have the doors wide open at the Italian brand, but we’ll see what happens with the 29, and with the rest of the options for what would be the junior team. For now, both will be present for these three days of testing.
Many unknowns surround this possible Ducati project; nothing is defined or closed yet. We’ll see whether this junior team finally becomes a reality and which riders will make up its ranks.
