Herlings and Cairoli win the Motocross round in France

The Motocross World Championship has held its eighth round of the 2013 season in France, at Ernee, where we have once again seen the two big favourites in action, each winning on the combined Grand Prix results in both MX1 and MX2: Antonio Cairoli and Jeffrey Herlings.

Paulin francia

This past weekend saw the eighth round of the Motocross World Championship take place in France, specifically in Ernee, where once again we watched Tony Cairoli and Jeffrey Herlings triumph on their respective machines in their respective MX1 and MX2 categories. Without a doubt they remain the great dominators of the discipline, and among the best we also continue to see our own José Antonio Butrón.

The first heat of the MX1 category went to Gautier Paulin on his Kawasaki, leaving everyone a little bewildered, but putting in a great performance and seizing every moment to secure this win, while behind him the great favourite, Cairoli, came in just 1.4s off the winner, so the situation at the front was very tight, but the victory went to the rider of the Japanese brand. Completing the top 10 of this first heat were Desalle in 3rd, Van Horebeek 4th, De Dycker 5th, Philippaerts 6th, Searle 7th, Nagl 8th, Guarneri 9th and Gonçalves 10th; while our Jonathan Barragán finished 17th in this first race start.

Cairoli francia

In relation to the second heat we returned to the “normality” of the recent Grand Prix events, watching Cairoli dominate and control things to the maximum, taking the victory with more than 10 seconds of advantage over the second-placed rider, Desalle, with Searle 3rd, Paulin 4th, De Dycker 5th, Van Horebeek 6th, Boog 7th, Strijbos 8th, Bobryshev 9th and Guarneri 10th; while our Barragán finished 26th after many problems.

In the combined result of both heats we saw Cairoli claim the victory in this eighth round, followed by Paulin 2nd and Desalle 3rd to complete the podium, with our Barragán 21st in the combined standings of the French Grand Prix.

Herlings francia

For his part, in MX2 there was an absolute dominator, Herlings, who won both heats and gave his rivals no chances. In the first race he won by almost three seconds over the second-placed rider, Ferrandis, with Coldenhoff 3rd, Tixier 4th, Butrón 5th, Nicholls 6th, Anstie 7th, Tonkov 8th, Charlier 9th and Petrov 10th. This was therefore a great result for our Butrón, who remains in the zone of the leading riders causing trouble. In the second heat we again had Herlings 1st, with Ferrandis 2nd almost six seconds behind.

Completing the top 10 were Charlier 3rd, Tonkov 4th, Nicholls 5th, Ferris 6th, Lupino 7th, Butrón 8th, Tixier 9th and Clermont 10th. Another top 10 for our 17 at this round, so very good. In the combined result of both heats, which would be the standings, Herlings was the winner, followed by Ferrandis 2nd and Charlier 3rd on the podium, with our Butrón in 7th place, not bad at all.

Now on to the next one in Italy.
