Herlings and Cairoli dominate the World MX round in Lierop

This past weekend, the World Motocross Championship held its 14th round of the season, dominated by Herlings in MX2 and Cairoli in MX1.

This weekend saw the 14th round of the World Motocross Championship held at the Lierop Circuit, where we witnessed some of the most exciting racing within the Dutch Grand Prix in the MX1 and MX2 categories.

Plenty of action this Saturday and Sunday on Dutch soil, with the major dominators of the categories being Antonio Cairoli and Jeffrey Herlings, in MX1 and MX2 respectively, both taking the two motos contested on this track, so plenty of dominance at the front.

Another great day for the Red Bull KTM Factory, as its riders have both scored a double in this 14th round of the 2012 season. Although they did not get the holeshot or lead from the start, they took things calmer, and step by step they overtook their rivals, eventually reaching first position, from which they were never displaced.

These were not easy races: both Herlings and Cairoli made mistakes during the motos, falls, bad starts, contact and rivals, but as soon as they took the lead they gained complete control.

In the MX1 category we saw in Moto 1 Cairoli winning after overtaking his teammate Nagl, earning another new victory, followed by Nagl in 2nd and De Dycker in 3rd. For his part, Jonathan Barragán had little luck, as he had contact with Revuer and had to retire due to pain in the ankle area, so a difficult outing for our 7.

The second moto also went to Cairoli, again passing some rivals to take 1st and never giving up that position until the end, with the podium completed by De Dycker in 2nd and Leok in 3rd. Meanwhile, Barragán, despite the pain, was able to finish from 10th position, a good result given the circumstances. With Cairoli 1st in the overall standings of the Grand Prix, followed by De Dycker 2nd and Leok 3rd; with Barragán 15th.

Herlings did the same in MX2, with Van Horebeek 2nd and Anstie 3rd in the first moto, while Butrón was 17th on a difficult day for the 17; whereas in the second moto we saw Herlings repeat his position, followed by Van Horebeek and Anstie again in the second race, with Butrón from 19th position. And as it could not be otherwise, in the overall standings Herlings is 1st, Van Horebeek 2nd and Anstie 3rd, with Butrón 18th.
