The brand Harley-Davidson unveils the Roadster model as one of its new releases for this year, joining the 2016 range. Shaped by a 60-year legacy and stripped down to the essence of what a pure, hard-core motorcycle should be, the new Harley feels right at home both in city traffic and on the most winding roads, always leaving a bold presence in its wake.
The new Roadster model, which is being launched as part of the current campaign, joins the Dark Custom range with a design free of any accessories, inspired by classic racing and today’s naked, minimalist motorcycle trends, with echoes of the racing Sportsters of the ’50s and ’60s.
The Roadster delivers modern performance with a new combination of rims and tires, paired with high-end suspension and a 1200cc air-cooled V-Twin engine capable of delivering a powerful surge of torque at mid-range revs. The 5-spoke Offset-Split cast aluminum wheels, 19″ at the front and 18″ at the rear, have been designed specifically for the Roadster and contribute to its balanced, sporty look.
The Roadster’s suspension is enhanced by a new 43 mm single-cartridge inverted fork with triple-rate springs, held by thick triple clamps, and a rear suspension with gas-emulsion shock absorbers and triple-rate springs, featuring preload adjustment and greater travel than any other Sportster (114 mm at the front and 81 mm at the rear). Two front floating discs provide excellent braking power, and ABS is standard.
The Roadster offers an aggressive riding position, with a new low-rise handlebar and mid-mount footpegs that centralize the rider’s weight above the classic Sportster profile of the 12.5-liter fuel tank. In keeping with the Roadster’s bare, minimalist styling, the rear fender has been trimmed even further than on other bobbed Sportsters. The slotted drive belt guard and exhaust guard mimic the lightweight parts of racing motorcycles, and the single instrument cluster mounted in front of the upper triple clamp features a large analog tachometer with a digital speedometer.
The rear turn signals are mounted directly on the fender brackets, while a new license plate holder, the rear light and the fast-back seat design give the back of the bike a compact, clean look.
The Harley-Davidson Roadster will be offered in 4 color options: Vivid Black with a charcoal denim stripe; Black Denim with a red stripe; Velocity Red Sunglo with a red stripe; and a two-tone Billet Silver/Vivid Black with a burgundy stripe.
