Habib takes pole in the Kawasaki Ninja Cup at Montmeló
The KNC arrives at a new round, this time at the Montmeló circuit. Little by little, the time to find the rhythm is running out, so it's time to open the throttle.
A scorching day comes to a close here at the Montmeló circuit. The last of today’s qualifying sessions was the Kawasaki Ninja Cup, where the best lap times could not be any better than in the morning practice, since the excessive heat on the asphalt makes it impossible to go any faster.
Oliver Habib was the quickest, the rider from the Basoli Sabadell dealership set a time of 1:51.683 in just three laps, and it seems the Andorran rider is very clear that he wants to take this championship this year, which is why he is always riding among the best.
It’s true that there are few laps, and this could work against him when he has to race without having tested his pace, but making a mistake would have been even less productive.
Behind Oliver, Hugo Martinez finished 563 thousandths slower, with a total of eight laps on the scorching asphalt. Ignacio Contreras will start third, and with a gap of almost one second to the leader, he could still fight for the race tomorrow.
Julio David Palao qualified fourth, ahead of Hidalgo, Parchard, Poyatos and Arroyo, riders we have seen hovering around the top positions in the other races. We will see what the most closely contested category in terms of technique in the CEV has in store.
