Moto2 CEV

Friday free practice CEV and press conference in Albacete

The CEV has kicked off at the Albacete Circuit with the first free practice sessions and the press conference; without a doubt, the greatest excitement arrives at the Albacete track.

The Spanish Speed Championship started today at the Albacete circuit, where the fifth round of the season will be held, and where the free practice sessions for the three categories present at this round of the national speed championship have taken place.

Between session 1 and session 2 we were able to attend the press conference with two of the most promising riders in the Moto3 championship, Álex Márquez and María Herrera, who explained their feelings and answered the press’s questions, without a doubt a good start to this CEV round.

Álex Márquez, speaking at the press conference, commented that the CEV is extremely competitive, with a very high level of riders, and that it is the best platform to jump to the World Championship. Now he will see how the weekend goes, and whether he can repeat the victory of the 2011 edition.

Regarding his move to the World Championship, these are big words: at Mugello they told him about this possibility, and now what he wants is to learn, get to know circuits and prepare himself. As for his brother, it is normal that there are comparisons, but each one follows his own path, and we give each other advice.

María Herrera comments that she likes the Albacete circuit, that she holds a licence from here and that they always give her enormous support. In addition, it was on this track that she won her Mediterranean Speed title last season. Luckily, regarding her injury she is now at 100%; she still lacks a bit of strength, but she is very well recovered.

In the first free practice sessions we were able to see the new arrivals for this round of the national championship, among them the return of Dani Rivas, Ángel Rodríguez, Kenny Noyes’s change and many more things that will make for races of great interest in Moto2, Moto3 and Stock Extreme. On this occasion we do not have the Kawasaki Ninja Cup, which is expected for the second round in Albacete.

We do not have times, since lap times are not provided for free practice, but we did see a small off-track excursion by Jordi Torres, who is making a great effort given his physical condition. Without a doubt, everyone is giving their maximum to get the feel of this track as soon as possible and be at the front from the start.

A lot of excitement.
