Freestyle Tricks ABC (I)
Let's get a bit closer to the world of FMX, that is, Freestyle, and now we're going to get to know its tricks much better.
This weekend the Red Bull X-Fighters are taking place in Madrid, so what better time to get our act together and learn a bit more about this motorcycling discipline. On this occasion we are going to explain, in a first part, some of the most common tricks and their possible combinations.
Freestyle is one of the most spectacular categories for the public that motorcycling can offer, along with Stunt. In our country, neither of them has a wide following, partly due to the little television coverage they receive. However, if you go to any of these events you will see sports palaces and pavilions full of people who get very involved in the show. So for those of you who are still hesitating, stop thinking about it and join us to watch an event of this kind as soon as you can.
To begin, we are going to explain the jumps that exist and which ones are most often combined with others:
We start with the BackFlip, which can be single or double like the one in the following image, where Dany Torres shows off his skill in a great photo. It is a 360º spin on his own axis, backwards:
Next is the Can Can, a trick that consists of extending both legs out to one side, where the leg on the opposite side of the jump passes over the bike instead of behind it.
Candy Bar, a trick in which one leg is extended over the handlebars. It can be combined with a No Hander, as in this case, which is performed by letting go of the handlebars:
Cliffhanger: planting the feet on the handlebars, stretching the body and raising the hands. The straighter and the longer you hold this position, the more points you earn, because it looks more spectacular. It is often combined with a handsfree landing, that is, a Cliffhanger No Hander Lander:
For this trick, Cordova, the rider’s flexibility is vital. It is a very popular trick, both on its own and in its variant accompanied by a backflip (Cordova Flip):
The Heelclicker is another trick that requires great physical fitness. It consists of clapping with the feet, passing them over the handlebars while the arms stay gripped to the handlebars between the legs.
Lazy Boy, which can also be done alone or while performing a backflip, is a trick in which our representative Dany is a true specialist:
Another trick used quite frequently is the Nac Nac, in which one leg is swung from one side of the bike to the other while twisting the body:
In the Indy, the rider releases the legs from the footpegs and kicks in the air. It is perhaps the most combined trick of all, since in most cases where this is done, releasing the feet from the footpegs, the Indy variant can be introduced:
Hart Attack, one of the tricks where keeping the body tense is very useful:
A new installment of the ABC coming soon.
