Franco Morbidelli takes Moto2 pole at Assen
Rider Franco Morbidelli has taken pole position in Moto2 at the Assen Circuit.

The Moto2 World Championship was the last to hit the Assen track to fight for pole position, on a surface in better condition than the two previous categories, as the asphalt was drier, so anticipation was total.
On this occasion, Franco Morbidelli has taken pole position in the intermediate class after two races without reaching the podium, on a track that was getting drier and in better conditions. He set his fourth Pole Position of the season in a session marked by the crash of Lorenzo Baldassarri (Forward Racing Team).
Morbidelli set the benchmark with a time of 1’38.468, while Nakagami placed second, 0.101s behind the leader. Meanwhile, Luthi took third place, completing the front row of the starting grid, 0.115s behind the leader.

The second row of the grid will be occupied by Miguel Oliveira (Red Bull KTM Ajo), very close to the times of the first row, and the surprising Fabio Quartararo (Pons HP40) in 5th and Xavier Simeon (Tasca Racing Scuderia Moto2) in 6th. It stands out to see Mattia Pasini in 7th (Italtrans Racing Team) so far back, as well as Álex Márquez (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) in 8th. Both riders also fell victim to crashes.
On to the race.
