Francesco Bagnaia takes pole at the CEV at Montmeló
The Italian rider matched his morning time and took pole in the Moto3 category, leaving his teammate Márquez and Guevara in 2nd and 3rd place on the grid.
Rider Pecco Bagnaia secured pole position in the Moto3 category of the Spanish Speed Championship at the Circuit de Catalunya, at this fourth round of the season, taking advantage of the time he set in the first qualifying practice session, since the heat at the circuit left them little room for improvement.
In fact, the top four qualifiers did not improve their times, so Alex Márquez and Juanfran Guevara will join the Italian rider on the front row of the grid. Both Márquez and Pecco suffered crashes at the start of this second session, but while Alex returned in the final minutes, Bagnaia was unable to rejoin the session.
The second row will be occupied by Lorenzo Baldassarri, Bagnaia and Márquez’s teammate at Monlau Competición, John McPhee, who had just competed as a wild card in last week’s race at Silverstone, and the Japanese rider Hyuga Watanabe. Slightly further back will line up German Luca Amato, Xavi Vierge and the rider from Cádiz, Marcos Ramírez.
The intense heat at the Circuit today is a tough test for both the machines and the riders, as the bikes were struggling and unable to fully develop their potential. This has made setup work complicated ahead of tomorrow’s race at 1 p.m., which can be followed live on the Energy channel.
