The World Superbike Championship has confirmed the riders who will take part in the 2016 season, so we now have the list of riders and teams that will be present in this year’s SBK world championship, undoubtedly a source of maximum excitement and with great anticipation to see them in action.
This season we have several new faces on the grid that catch the eye. The FIM (International Motorcycling Federation) has confirmed the following entrants for this edition of the championship, which will kick off on February 26-28 at Phillip Island Circuit, in Australia.
A total of 24 riders will compete in the championship’s top category, with reigning champion Jonathan Rea at the head and sporting the number 1 plate on the fairing of his Kawasaki ZX-10R. Among the newcomers we have Nicky Hayden, the MotoGP rider who has decided to change scenery for 2016 and try one of the most interesting championships, Superbike, so welcome to the 69 and all the best with his Honda. Also following in Nicky’s footsteps, Karel Abraham has decided to move to this championship and change his circumstances a little, doing so aboard a BMW; as does Alex de Angelis, who makes the jump with an Aprilia.
The teammate of Alex de Angelis, Italian Lorenzo Savadori, will also make his debut in the top category with the new IodaRacing Team after claiming the Superstock 1000 crown last season. Another Italian, Fabio Menghi, also makes the jump to SBK after four years in WorldSSP.
For this edition we will have three national riders on the grid: Jordi Torres, now on BMW; Román Ramos, who continues with Team GOELEVEN on a Kawasaki ZX-10R, and Xavi Forés, who will contest his first full campaign in the Championship with Barni Racing Team.
